Working in a static standing position: which safety shoes should you choose?

Things to consider when choosing safety footwear

Protection level

Working in a prolonged static standing position for long periods can put considerable pressure on your whole body, but more specifically on your feet and lower back, leading to long-term pain and postural problems. Choosing the right safety footwear is therefore of paramount importance to workers' health. It is crucial to select footwear offering an adequate level of protection against the risks associated with this type of prolonged work. Indeed, in an environment where people are on their feet for long periods, the feet are subjected to considerable stress, which can lead to long-term pain and posture problems.

Comfort and ergonomics

In addition to the level of protection, the comfort and ergonomics of safety footwear are essential elements to consider. For the worker, standing statically for long periods of time can exert significant pressure on the feet, legs and lower back, leading to pain and musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).

It is therefore advisable to opt for safety shoes with good cushioning and optimum arch support to reduce fatigue and prevent pain

At Parade, with our 40 years of expertise, we have done our utmost to make our safety footwear ever more comfortable.  We've developed a number of technologies to address discomfort issues. We drew inspiration from the natural structure of the foot, in particular its arch, which represents a harmonious arrangement of osteo-articular, ligamentary and muscular elements. These advances are integrated into the soles of our safety shoes to offer you optimum comfort. Here's an overview of our innovations:

The VPS (Suspended Plantar Arch) system: This technology maintains the natural arch of the foot thanks to the ergonomic shape of the sole, offering essential support, especially during long periods of tramping or static posture.

DRS (Delete Resonance System): DRS acts as a shock absorber, accompanying the movement of the heel. A cavity under the heel collapses on contact with the ground, helping the foot to adapt smoothly to the terrain, promoting a fluid gait and efficient propulsion.

The Parade AIR SYSTEM: Incorporating an air bubble encapsulated in the outsole, this technology offers an air-cushioned gait that accompanies the natural suppleness of movement.

Anti-slip and stability

In a working environment where people stand for long hours, it is also essential to choose safety shoes with non-slip soles and excellent stability.Work surfaces can be slippery or unstable, increasing the risk of falls and injuries.

Footwear with a good grip on the ground and enhanced stability will enable workers to maintain a secure and stable posture, reducing the risk of injury from falls or sudden movements.

Breathability and hygiene

Finally, the breathability and hygiene of safety footwear are important aspects not to be overlooked.

Working in a static standing position can lead to a build-up of perspiration, which can encourage the development of bacteria and fungi responsible for fungal infections.

To prevent these problems, we recommend choosing safety footwear made from breathable materials that allow air to circulate freely around the feet, helping to maintain a comfortable temperature and prevent the build-up of moisture.

Different types of safety footwear for static standing work

Safety shoes with reinforced non-slip soles

Safety shoes with reinforced non-slip soles are particularly suitable for work environments where surfaces may be slippery or unstable.

These shoes offer extra grip on the ground, enabling workers to maintain a stable posture and reduce the risk of falls and injuries.

To meet these requirements, choose the RUSH range

With its urban look, this range comprises two S1P models and one S3 model. It has been designed around 3 axes: flexibility, cushioning and comfort. The safety shoes in this range are equipped with VPS technology, an arch support device, and an HRO pad (heat resistance of the outsole, up to 300°C), which is resistant and slip-resistant thanks to its rubber and EVA outsole.

Safety shoes with reinforced cushioning

Safety shoes with reinforced cushioning are ideal for workers who spend long hours on their feet. These shoes feature extra cushioning in the midsole, providing extra support and comfort to reduce fatigue and prevent foot and leg pain.

Our RACING range has been designed with an all-comfort thought sole featuring 3 PARADE technologies:

BE FLEX 2.0: a skate with an exclusive design and construction, providing optimum flexion and flexibility

DRS 2: heel technology for enhanced shock absorption in all conditions

VPS system: an arch support system that relieves posture and reduces fatigue, particularly in prolonged static positions.

On top of this, the insole of RACING models is ultra-comfortable, with constant resilience throughout the day, for enhanced endurance.
